CHARACTERISTICS OF HUMILIATION INJURY
(Mask of the Masochist)

Birth of the wound of humiliation:

The humiliation injury has its roots in early life experiences, often in childhood, when the child feels that he or she is being put down, criticized, or devalued by an important attachment figure.

  • The child feels that one of the parents is ashamed of him or feels humiliated

  • Often experienced with the mother

  • Occurs when the child feels criticized, belittled and compared

Characteristics of the masochist:

  • Experiences satisfaction and pleasure in suffering

  • Seeks pain and humiliation

  • Is efficient, takes a lot of responsibility

  • Likes to take care of others

  • Has difficulty expressing real needs

  • Close relationship with his mother

  • Hypersensitive

  • Often devalues himself

  • Punishes himself

  • Main fear: freedom (fear of abusing if there are no limits)

Physical characteristics of the masochist:
