COUPLE COACHING

managing separation, breakups, divorce, saving your relationship, forgiving the other, lack of communication, whose fault is it

COUPLE COACHING

The couple is like a besieged fortress: those who are inside want to get out, those who are outside want to get in. "Yvon Dallaire"

A couple is two people united by emotional and physical relationships. Contrary to what we often think, the couple is not made to make happy but to generate crises of growth and decline to evolve in its development. As long as there has not been a major crisis, the couple does not exist because it has not passed a crisis that allows it to consolidate.

Letting Go of Illusions

The higher you aim, the more disappointed you become because the charming prince or princess doesn't exist. At first, you tell yourself:
"Finally, a man, a woman who is not like the others."
This is the honeymoon period. Love transports. Rarely are love and good faith the issue for couples seeking counseling. But love cannot do everything – or it's an illusion to believe so in our time.

Similarly, "good faith" cannot account for everything: men act in "good faith" when they give advice, and women want men to be "as they want them to be." Both are acting in good faith, but it doesn't work because it's better not to give or offer advice when it's not solicited, and you cannot change the other person! "For it is easier to change oneself than to change others."

Issues for Couples Seeking Coaching

  • Frequent arguments

  • Financial difficulties

  • Conflicts regarding children

  • Dependency problems

  • Diminished affection

  • Retirement and aging...

  • Lack of communication

  • Misunderstandings in communication style.

It's not necessarily a lack of communication. It's more about misunderstanding in communication style.

Is your relationship going through a period of doubt, imbalance, change, or crisis? Do you feel the need to readjust or reinvest in your relationship, overcome a difficulty, or make joint decisions?

Couples' life coaching invites questioning, reflection, and understanding, then the definition of directions, actions, and concrete choices, allowing each person to feel fully heard and more in tune with themselves.

A concrete, supportive, and effective relationship coaching.
A relationship is a territory where each person projects their expectations and needs, but also their own vision of a happy and balanced life. "The map is not the territory."

Its success involves the expression and listening of desires, needs, expectations, as well as limits or fears of each individual.
Our pace of life, the arrival of children, daily constraints, and difficulties are all events that can weaken this balance and require adaptation and compromise.

In a few sessions, and thanks to a reassuring, non-judgmental framework that respects each person's integrity, you will jointly develop the relationship project that will allow each partner to find their full place.

Couples Therapy and Couples Coaching: What's the Difference?

Couples therapy and coaching can generally address the same relationship needs or difficulties but are practiced differently.

  • Couples therapy seeks to understand why things are going badly within the duo? Why have the partners reached this stage?

  • Couples coaching, on the other hand, seeks more to find how to get better? How now, and despite the history of the relationship and each individual, move in the direction decided by the partners?

  • Couples therapy can intervene on the past as well as on the personal histories of the partners, whereas coaching is a resolutely present-focused approach towards short, medium, or long-term goals.

  • Couples coaching is brief support, whereas therapy can constitute a longer and deeper process.

  • Therapy may seek to relieve psychological suffering or distress, whereas life coaching will build on the individuals' strengths and the relationship's resources.
